2. Making Wax Model

Custom design drawing and custom made ring with a certificate for the certified lab-grown diamond

Starting with ideas, inspirations, and sketches, we source specifications such as measurements and materials.  Then we proceed with the 'Handmade Production Process' in order to create the piece.

Jeweler hand carving a wax mold ring with a bur.

The design is then hand-carved into a castable wax cube to make the wax model.

4. Making Plaster Mold

Hand carved wax ring models connected on a base to form a wax mold tree.

When the hand-carved wax designs are done, the wax models are connected on a base to form a wax mold tree, which will go into a flask to make an investment.

4. Making Plaster Mold

Two flasks with the wax and investment inside sitting in a kiln.

The investment is poured into the flask to cover the wax and will be placed into the vacuum casting machine to remove the air inside. Once it dries into a plaster mold, the flask is then put into the kiln, which will melt the wax and left over night to make the investment mold, called the Wax Burnout / Lost Wax Casting method.

5. Melting & casting

6. Plaster mold washing & metal model

6. Plaster mold washing & metal model

Metal being mixed and melted with a torch on the left and being poured into the flask on the right.

The investment mold is kept in the kiln to reach 700 degrees while the metal is being melted to reduce the temperature difference. The melted metal is then poured into the flask and put aside to cool off for 5 minutes. Once the flask is cooled off, it is submerged in cold water to remove the metal model from the flask.

A cleaned metal model of the rings on the base that forms the tree.

After the metal model is removed from the flask and the investment is cleaned off and cut out of the tree, it is ready to be assembled.

8. Setting Stones

8. Setting Stones

The metal ring mounting sawed from the tree is being held by a tweezer and assembled with a torch.

The metal model is sawed from the tree with a saw blade and smoothed and polished with a bur.

An oval center stone held by a tweezer is being set into the ring.

Once the metal model is assembled, the stones are set.

9. Finishing

A finished and engraved ring in a white box.

After adding any details, such as a hallmark, engraving, finishing (texture), or polishing, a concluding cleaning is done, and the final product is complete.
